"In the summer near the end of World War II, a special training exercise was underway on the Nobi Coast of Yokosuka, Japan. Day after day, young boys dove to the seabed, training to strike enemy ships passing overhead with mines attached to bamboo poles. One summer, guided by their memoirs, I documented Yokosuka through photography and field recordings.
