Nakaji Yasui was born in 1903 in Osaka. From the 1920s on, Yasui was an active photographer in the Kansai region of Japan until 1942, when he passed away; he is one of the most prominent Japanese photographers of the prewar period. Yasui produced his photographs while enthusiastically incorporating many new theories of art into his work. Although Yasui’s career was short, his work has influenced Daido Moriyama and many other important contemporary Japanese photographers. This book, published in 2004 by Kyodo news service, is one of the major publications devoted to this author's work. A must see and must have book from one of the masters of pre-war era.
Book conditions: The dust jacket has some lines visible against the light and a few small dents along the top edge. The obi has some folds and some small tears. The inside of the volume is clean except for a yellowing along the edges of the pages. On the last page there are traces of a label.
